Rather, I’d like to offer one of my favorite hiking trails at Fallen Leaf Lake that’s slightly more structured than those social trails. Long story short, it would be a fool’s errand to map out each and every one of these little “wandering” trails. They’re mostly short, and they generally all lead to some aspect of the shoreline. I find this to be the case during the heart of summer and closer to the campground (located on the north side of the lake).Īs a result of all this foot traffic, there are countless social trails on the north side of Fallen Leaf Lake. But, because Fallen Leaf Lake is so popular, it can become crowded. And for good reason! There are tons of access points to the lake, and the water is always refreshing. "We were born 62 days and 1,800 miles apart, but it felt like across that span, I'd dropped a puzzle piece and Adam had picked it up."Ĭhadé had never heard of her wedding dress designer- Flora, a fashion house based in Israel-ahead of her appointment at San Francisco's Marina Morrisson. He was born in the same town in Iowa where my parents met and married, we both skipped third grade, we both studied abroad in Germany, and his grandparents live in the town in Iowa where my cousins briefly lived," says Chadé. "Even though Adam moved into my apartment randomly in 2009 in San Francisco, and he was from Michigan and I was from Oregon, it turns out we had so much in common. Ultimately, though, the highlight was their ceremony, which showcased how in sync they are and always have been, long before they first met. Even though we'd already decided it was our venue, he fell in love with it as much as I hoped he would, and all my old co-workers welcomed him so warmly," says the bride.įrom there, the pair's "elevated camp" theme was born, which they-with Jacqueline's help-brought to life with an autumnal, opulent twist they then crafted a weekend of events for their 147 guests, which culminated in their October 26, 2019, nuptials. "In the spring of 2018, we had a reunion for camp staff and I got to bring Adam and show him the place. This choice ultimately involved a trip down memory lane: Chadé spent her summers in college as a counselor at the venue, which is transitioned into a summer camp during the warmer months. Next up? Sourcing their venue, the Stanford Sierra Center in Fallen Leaf Lake, California-near Lake Tahoe. "Hiring a wedding planner-Jacqueline in particular-was the best decision we made," says Chadé. The first was enlisting the aid of their most critical vendor, Jacqueline Hallgarth. ![]() The couple took a relaxed, collaborative approach to planning their nuptials ("We had almost two years to plan so it felt like it evolved in manageable stages," notes the bride), which started with two key decisions. "We did a day of oyster tasting and then stopped for sweatshirts before Adam popped the question on a bluff overlooking the water." After Chadé said yes, they spent the rest of the day drinking Champagne and calling their friends and family to share the happy news. ![]() ![]() "It's a beloved spot north of San Francisco where you used to be able to bring picnic supplies and eat oysters on the bay," explains Chadé. Nearly a decade later, on November 10, 2018, the couple-they were back under one roof after doing a few years of long distance-spent the day at Tomales Bay Oyster Farm, where they marked their first anniversary years prior.
